Citizen's Duty and Responsibilities
As a participant in the system of governance, citizens have rights. It is necessary to ensure that they are received in a definite and accurate manner. Activities that contradict this should be prevented and responsible civil rights should be implemented. Citizens are responsible for fulfilling certain duties and responsibilities towards the society and the nation. These are called civic duties. It is the duty of a good citizen to voluntarily fulfill them.

Respect and obey the Constitution and the fundamental values of the nation.
Protect and nurture the values of the national freedom struggle.
Protect and do not destroy public property.
Protect historical and cultural heritage.
Protect natural resources, wildlife, and environmental balance.
To enhance the dignity and status of women and combat anti-women activities.
To work against superstitions and immoralities and to promote scientific awareness.
To protect the unity and integrity of the country and to promote religious harmony.
🏛️ Panchayat Raj Act (1994, 1999)
The Panchayat Raj Act of 1994 defines the duties and responsibilities of citizens living in the Gram Panchayat area. Every citizen is required to perform the following duties:
To participate in the Gram Sabha and directly participate in the local government process.
To ensure the Panchayat's own income by paying taxes correctly.
To assist the Panchayat in development activities.
To participate in planning, implementation and evaluation activities.
To avoid public nuisance and dumping of waste and to be vigilant.
To cooperate with the Panchayat in activities such as sanitation, immunization, nutrition and literacy.
Help make the social audit process successful.
Engage in activities that contribute to social cohesion and participatory development.
Be vigilant against corruption and mismanagement.
Protect natural resources and public facilities.
Promote thrift and participate in self-help activities.
Work against social evils such as alcoholism, drugs, violence against women, and child labor.
Participate in environmental protection activities.
Cooperate in collecting statistics.
Help victims of natural disasters.
Cultivate cooperative and economic habits.
Do not encroach on public land and release land for development.
Form neighborhood groups and self-help groups.
Avoid anti-social activities such as spitting, drinking, and smoking in public places.
Do not slaughter animals in public places in public.
Ensure necessary vaccinations and licenses for pets.
Comply with laws and regulations and avoid violations.
Promote gender equality and justice.

A good citizen behaves responsibly towards society and the country, abides by the laws, participates in development activities, and works for social harmony and environmental protection.
