Grievance Redressal Mechanisms in Local Bodies

1.Local Ombudsman

The Local Ombudsman is a higher judicial mechanism for filing complaints about corruption, irregularities, abuse of power and dereliction of duty against people's representatives or officials in local bodies. Its head is a person with the rank of a High Court judge.

2.Local Tribunal

It is a court mechanism for filing appeals against decisions, orders, denial of licenses, cancellation of building permits, etc. taken by the Panchayat Administrative Committee or Secretary. Its headquarters is in Thiruvananthapuram.

3. Chief Minister's Portal CMO PORTAL

Delays or other difficulties arising in Panchayat services can be brought directly to the attention of the Chief Minister. The officials are obliged to resolve the complaints within the specified time limit.

4. 4. K-Smart PortalK-SMART CITIZEN PORTAL

This is the online single window system of the local department. You can submit service-related complaints online and check the Track Status without having to go to the Panchayat office directly.

5. Vigilance Section

You can directly file a complaint with the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau against possible bribery, financial irregularities, misuse of government funds, etc. in the Panchayat offices.
